Samsung Galaxy insurance in South Africa — S24, Z Fold, Z Flip cover

Pricing and policy tips for insuring the Samsung Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 in South Africa — and how to cover foldables affordably.

Samsung's flagships are the most common phones on SA premium contracts, and Galaxy foldables — Z Fold 6 at over R40 000 — are now genuinely expensive to replace. The good news: most insurers price Galaxy cover slightly cheaper than equivalent iPhones because parts and labour are more readily available locally.

Galaxy insurance pricing by model (2026)

  • Galaxy Z Fold 6 (R40 999): R200–R460/month
  • Galaxy Z Flip 6 (R26 999): R135–R310/month
  • Galaxy S24 Ultra (R32 999): R165–R370/month
  • Galaxy S24+ (R24 999): R125–R280/month
  • Galaxy S24 (R19 999): R100–R225/month
  • Galaxy A55 (R12 999): R65–R150/month
  • Galaxy A35 (R8 999): R45–R105/month

Foldables: the cover you actually need

Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip hinges and inner displays are the highest-claim items in SA. Look for policies that explicitly cover inner-display failure (not just outer cosmetic damage), hinge failure outside warranty, and screen-protector lifting that leads to display damage. A few insurers exclude foldables entirely — read the schedule before you pay your first premium.

Galaxy S series tips

  • Confirm S Pen cover — for the S24 Ultra, a lost or broken S Pen is often excluded
  • Check whether 'new-for-new' includes the same colour/storage variant
  • Ask about cover during travel — some insurers reduce limits outside SADC

Frequently asked questions

Are foldable phones harder to insure?+

Yes — a handful of SA insurers exclude foldables, and those who cover them charge a 15–30% premium uplift to reflect higher repair costs.
